I’m a total throw blanket and pillow fanatic. They’re an easy way to give your space a refresh, and you can swap them out with the seasons. I’m a sucker for a festive pumpkin pillow in the fall or a faux fur throw when the temps dip.
I also believe a quality throw blanket belongs in every gift basket for housewarming parties, baby showers and holiday get-togethers. Sure, throw blankets might feel like a classic (even predictable) gift, but there’s a reason they never go out of style. They’re a symbol of warmth, comfort and care. Plus, they pull double duty as both cozy essentials and stylish decor. The best blankets become favorites, sometimes heirlooms, tied to our coziest memories.
So, what’s the best blanket to gift? Truthfully, it depends on the person, but if you ask me, the Lola Blanket is a top contender. Here’s why.

The Original Lola Blanket
Say hello to our shopping editor's new favorite blanket.
What is the Lola Blanket?
The Original Lola Blanket is an ultra-soft, stretchy faux fur throw that comes in four sizes and a variety of colors and prints, from soft pastels to bold animal patterns and trendy checks. Its unique elastic banding gives it a textured look and a comfy, flexible feel.
Unlike many other faux fur blankets, the Lola Blanket is double-sided with plush faux fur on both sides for a consistent, cozy experience. It features a double hem for added durability and is made from vegan, cruelty-free, stain-resistant polyester that won’t shed. To top it off, each blanket is hand-dyed, so every piece is one of a kind.
How We Tested It
The Original Lola Blanket XL arrived in a large box, neatly rolled and wrapped in protective plastic. I chose the popular Caramel N’ Cream color, listed as “a calming swirl of neutrals,” and it looks stunning draped across my cream-colored couch.
I unwrapped the blanket and used it immediately. To my surprise, there was virtually no chemical smell, which stood out as a real win after testing several other faux fur blankets. I was also impressed by the elastic banding, which gives the Lola Blanket its signature texture. I hadn’t expected it to be so stretchy, but it makes wrapping it around your shoulders feel effortless, without tugging or bunching. (Plus, if you’re sharing with a blanket hog, they can pull without totally ripping it off your legs.)
Still, nothing prepared me for just how buttery soft this blanket is. It’s incredibly plush. Even my 1-year-old couldn’t stop rubbing her hands and face in it, likely reminded of her favorite stuffed rabbit.
The XL size (80 x 90 inches) is massive. It spans nearly the entire length of my modular sectional and easily covers my family of three during movie night. Paired with a snacklebox? Top-tier movie-night vibes.

The only downside is washing. Technically, I can cram it into my front-loader, but it’s heavy, and I’m sure it’ll throw my sensitive, front-loading washer off balance. I might try a short wash cycle or even handwashing it in the tub. The bigger challenge will be drying the blanket. I plan to hang dry and then finish it off with a no-heat tumble.
That said, plenty of Lola Blankets reviews swear the blanket washes beautifully, especially in smaller sizes, and holds up over time with repeated washing and use.
For now, I’m holding off on washing and treating it like an heirloom. Deputy Editor Katie Bandurski once likened her luxury faux fur throw to a dry-clean-only comforter or grandma’s quilt. I feel the same way about the Lola Blanket. It lives in my basement movie nook, waiting to be part of a special snuggle session—and I can’t wait for the next one.

Comparison: Lola Blankets vs. Minky Couture
Minky Couture wasn’t on my radar until I started digging into Lola Blankets for this review, but after a little research, the two brands seem pretty comparable at first glance. While I haven’t personally tested a Minky Couture blanket, here’s what I found.
Both the Lola Blanket and Minky Couture’s Hugs Blanket are made from 100% polyester and feature a similar faux fur texture with elastic ruching for a cozy, stretchy feel. Lola Blankets come in four sizes, while Minky Couture blankets come in five, including a smaller travel size (36 x 60 inches). However, Lola’s XL size is noticeably larger than Minky’s biggest option.
The blankets are similar in terms of weight, though Lola Blankets tend to run a bit heavier. Care instructions are nearly identical: wash alone in cold water with a mild detergent (no pods, fabric softeners or bleach) and either hang dry or tumble dry on a no-heat setting.
Lastly, Lola Blankets are advertised as stain-resistant and shed-free, something I didn’t see noted for Minky Couture’s blankets.
Final Verdict
I’ll admit, I was skeptical about the Lola Blanket at first. The price had me hesitating. I mean, could a faux fur throw really be worth a few hundred bucks? But after trying it myself, I totally get it.
It’s buttery soft and beautifully made, and the elastic stretch is one of those features I didn’t know I needed in a blanket until I experienced it.
The Lola Blanket looks just as good as it feels, too. The only downside is figuring out how to air-dry the oversized version, but honestly, that’s standard for large, high-quality faux fur, which usually requires cold, gentle washing and no heat drying.
Now I’m thinking about grabbing a few more for different rooms and for gifting ahead of the holiday season.

FAQ
MARY HENN FOR TASTE OF HOME
Why are Lola Blankets so expensive?
Lola Blankets are definitely a splurge, but it makes sense. They’re made with super soft, high-quality materials and designed to be comfy, durable and long-lasting.
How to wash a Lola Blanket?
Like most luxury faux fur blankets, Lola Blankets should be machine-washed alone in cold water with regular liquid detergent (no fabric softener) and then hung to dry. The care instructions say you can briefly tumble dry Lola Blankets on an air setting (with no heat) to restore fluffiness.
Are Lola Blankets worth it?
We think so! And hey, we get it—Lola Blankets are a bit of an investment for most. But if you’re in the market for a luxury faux fur throw, they’re definitely worth a look. The price is on par with other high-end brands, and while it’s not cheap, it feels fair for the quality, comfort and design you’re getting.
